The TB-1 was used as a rectifier/regulator for wind driven aircraft generators. The original versions of this tube had a unique 3 pin Shaw base. Later versions used a standard 4 pin base with 1 pin cut off.

This tube was originally assigned to Western Electric as an early W.E. tube data list shows a W.E. spec # of KS1659 and states "2 electrodes mfg. by G.E. for W.E as per spec. stated".
