The Schott tubes were experimental devices produced by the Schott glassworks under the direction of Prof. Erich Schott. The tube shown appears to be a version of the type m. During WWI Prof. Schott was a member of the Research group TAFUNK, formed to investigate solutions to technical problems of the military. The Schott tubes utilized a special high temperature glass, and pioneered the use of copper for tube plates. Telefunken used copper elements in tubes like the EVN173 late in the war.
